The gospel tells us that we are more sinful and broken than we ever imagined; but at the same time, we are more loved and accepted than we ever dared hope. It is our intention to have that gospel saturate everything we do. The gospel informs how we worship, how we live, and how we interact with others. The good news of Jesus’ unfailing grace is relevant to everyone and every situation. It is this gospel that we believe in, build our lives upon, and want to share with our community.

EAST COBB PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH’S CORE

PURPOSE - (Why do we exist as a church?)

To glorify God through gospel community. (Ephesians 4:11-16)

VISION - (Where are we going as a church?)

SUMMARY

We glorify God by offering gospel community so that we will experience and express God’s goodness in Jesus.

OUR VALUES - (How will our church behave?)

  • Faithful Servants - Jesus calls us stewards of the gifts he gave his people. As recipients, we humble ourselves before our Savior and Lord devoting ourselves to his service. We commit ourselves to faithful stewardship of his gifts and devoted service in his church and world (1 Corinthians 4:2).

  • Committed to Truth - Scripture assures us that sound doctrine leads to spiritual flourishing (Titus 2:1). Spiritual health comes as we abide in the truth of God and speak that truth to one another. We are committed to being grounded in the truth of Scripture, and to speaking that truth to each other and our community.

  • Conforming to Christ - Scripture teaches that spiritual birth is just the beginning of the Spirit’s work in our lives. By his grace and for his glory, we are predestined to be remade in the likeness of Christ. We are committed to abiding in Christ for the purpose of reflecting his character more and more (Romans 8:29, 12:2).

  • Loving Relationships - Jesus teaches us that personal life transformation occurs within the ministry of the church, as she builds herself up in love by mutual service and exhortation in the truth. We believe that sanctification happens in the context of loving relationships within the church. We are committed to creating, maintaining, and extending a loving community (Ephesians 4:11-16).
